Come and See

David Lindell

Scripture

John 1:43–46
“The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, ‘Follow me.’ Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, ‘We have found him of whom Moses in the Law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.’ Nathanael said to him, ‘Can anything good come out of Nazareth?’ Philip said to him, ‘Come and see.’”

Main Idea

Life-changing moments often begin with a simple invitation. We’re called to actively look for people who are far from God, share with them what we’ve personally experienced, and invite them to come and see for themselves. Instead of assuming people aren’t interested, we should believe they’re searching, that God is already working in their lives, and that they’re more open than they may appear. When we take the step to invite, God is the one who meets them, knows them, and transforms their lives.

1. Look for Lost People

A Christian doesn’t just notice lost people — a Christian looks for lost people.

How can we shift to living with purpose and intentionally look for the lost people God has placed in our lives? How can we make sure we don’t miss any opportunities?

2. Tell Them What You’ve Found

When sharing the Gospel, don’t mistake hesitation for resistance—recognize that people are searching for answers.

What would change in the way you talk to people about Jesus if, instead of assuming they’re uninterested, you assumed God is already at work in their life and they’re searching for something more?

3. Invite Them to Come and See

Nobody’s life is transformed by a better argument; their life is transformed by an encounter with God’s presence and power as the Gospel is proclaimed.

Who are three people in your life who don’t know God that you can share Jesus with?
