>Preparing for God to Move
Selected Scriptures
Joshua 3:5 (NIV)
“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the LORD will do amazing things among you.”
Why is it important to prepare?
1. God can be moving, and you don’t see it.
2. God can be moving, and you are so busy evaluating your faith and your needs and your opinion of what’s happening you miss it.
3. God can be moving and want to do greater things, but you have to prepare you heart for that.
How does fasting prepare us?
1. Gives Us Spiritual Understanding
Daniel 10:2
At that time I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips.
Proverbs 29:18 (MSG)
If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what he reveals, they are most blessed.
Daniel 10:12
Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.
Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
2. Allows us to move in God’s Power
Mark 9:29 (ESV)
And he [Jesus] said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting.”
3. Brings the Rewards of Heaven
Mathew 6:18 (ESV)
“When you fast, anoint your head and wash your
face, that your fasting may not be seen by others but by your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.
“If you want anything from God, you will have to pray into heaven. That is where it all is. If you live in the earth realm and expect to receive from God, you will never get anything.”
~Smith Wigglesworth
The Church has been negligent in one thing...she has not prayed the power of God out of heaven.
