21 Days of Fasting & Prayer Devotional – Day 5: God Will Answer
Nov 8, 2024
4 mins | Fasting & Prayer
God speaks through the prophet Isaiah about the holy confidence we can pray with every single day, “Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I.” (Isaiah 58:9) There is never a time we call on God and He doesn’t answer. He is a God who responds to His people and answers our prayers.
Isaiah says further, “The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.” (Isaiah 58:11)
When we call on God, He responds and provides direction for our lives that will be refreshing, strengthening, and lead us to success. Jesus emphasized the certainty we can pray with in Mark 11:24: “I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” We see this theme throughout all of Scripture – when people call on God, He answers and does big things in our lives.
You can have confidence today that as you fast and pray, God hears your prayers and He will answer. Though we are uncertain exactly how He’ll answer, our certainty remains in the fact that He is good and He does good!
Scriptures
Isaiah 58:9-12 (NIV)
“Then you will call, and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help, and He will say: Here am I. “If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings.”
