Scripture
“My son, I had it in my heart to build a house for the Name of the Lord my God. But this word of the Lord came to me: ‘You have shed much blood and have fought many wars. You are not to build a house for my Name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in my sight. But you will have a son who will be a man of peace and rest, and I will give him rest from all his enemies on every side. His name will be Solomon, and I will grant Israel peace and quiet during his reign. He is the one who will build a house for my Name.’”
Main Idea
1. We Take Initiative to Build God’s House by Serving
A heart for God’s house doesn’t sit still—it starts serving.
How do we overcome the excuses that hold us back from serving? What led you to start serving on a Dream Team?
2. We Invest Generously in God’s House
When I build God’s house, God builds my life.
How does our mindset shift from giving out of obligation to giving with a heart of gratitude?
3. We Use Our Influence to Build God’s House
People can sense when you’re real; they can feel when faith is genuine. There’s something powerful about a person whose example matches their words.
In what ways can you share with people this week about what God is doing at James River Church?
Call To Action
Reflect:
Between serving, generosity, and influence, what area are you strongest in? What area do you need to grow in?
Respond:
What can we do every day to build God’s Church in these three areas?
Remember:
God calls us to build His Church, and every day is an opportunity to share what He is doing and encourage those around us to do the same!
