On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews…

Acts 4:18-20 NIV
Then they called them in again and commanded them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”

2nd The infilling of the Holy Spirit will give us power to work miracles

Acts 8:5-6 NIV

3rd Through the infilling of the Spirit, the Spirit prays through us to God

1 Corinthians 14:2a NIV
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God.

1 Corinthians 14:15 NIV
I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind; I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will.

4th The infilling of the Spirit results in spiritual discernment

1 Corinthians 14:2 NIV
For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit.

5th The infilling of the Spirit is important because it strengthens the believer spiritually

He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…

Jude 1:20 NIV
But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.
