Pray Like…

Romans 8:14-17a ESV
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ,

1st Pray like you are His

John 5:19 ESV
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing. For whatever the Father does, that the Son does likewise.

John 1:18 NLT
No one has ever seen God. But the unique One, who is himself God, is near to the Father’s heart. He has revealed God [the Father] to us.

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Loving us based on our performance

But God the Father:
Loved us before we were even created

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Setting unreasonable standards & being harsh & critical when we miss them

But God the Father is:
Compassionate & knows we are frail

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Fickle and fulfilling His Word only when He feels like it

But God the Father is:
Completely trustworthy and in eternity no one will accuse Him of letting them down for His wisdom and plans will be evident to all

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Cold and aloof

But God the Father is:
Warm and affectionate

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Unforgiving and merciless

But God the Father is:
Quick to forgive

Spiritual Orphans view God as:
Stingy and holding out

But God the Father is:
Incredibly generous and desires to do good

2nd Pray like you’re an Heir

Romans 8:16-17a ESV
The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs–heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ…
