Basic Decisions for Big Blessing

Ps Brandon Lindell

Scripture

1 Samuel 22

David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. And when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. 2 And everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was bitter in soul, gathered to him. And he became commander over them. And there were with him about four hundred men… 5 Then the prophet Gad said to David, “Do not remain in the stronghold; depart, and go into the land of Judah.” So David departed and went into the forest of Hereth.

Main Idea

We see in 1 Samuel 22 that when David fled from Gath and was at the cave of Adullam, God’s provision came unexpectedly through the men who rallied to him. When we believe that God is the one who blesses and provides for us, we experience confidence and peace in our lives as we follow His steps, leading to our blessings.

1. Decide God is the one who blesses you not you.

You have to decide like David that your Refuge and your blessing comes from one place and that is the LORD.

When you decide that it is God who is the one that blesses you, you will immediately see God working his purpose and blessing in your life.

You will see his power and provision work in your life in an amazing way.

2. Decide you are going to value God’s provision.

Invest what God HAS given you and you will see it grow.

You won’t invest what you don’t value.

If you want to walk in God’s purpose and blessing you have to value His provision.

3. Decide you are going to listen to God’s voice.

God speaks through people in our lives.

We prepare to hear from God by worshipping God.

How can we cultivate a heart that is prepared to hear and act on God’s voice every day in our lives?

Call To Action

Let this week be a shift from partial surrender to full access. The Holy Spirit is already present; now let him lead.

Reflect:

Is there an area of your life that you need to fully trust God in and are you relying on yourself more than God in this area?

Respond:

Write down a decision that you are facing and pray over it for the next seven days.

Remember:

God is the one who will LEAD you, PROVIDE for you, and BLESS you.

Prayer Prompts

    • Prayer to trust that all blessings come from God.

Lord, I trust you, and I know that every blessing comes from you. The path you’re leading me on will bring me into the blessing that you have promised and planned for me. I trust you with all that I am.

    • Prayer to believe that God gives us what we need

Lord, I believe that every person and opportunity you bring into my life is exactly what I need. Regardless of whether I understand it or not, I know that you care for me, and everything you have given me is all that I need.

    • Prayer of commitment to listen to God’s voice.

Lord, I commit to listen to your voice and do what you say. I know you only want the best for me. The more I listen to your voice, the more I will feel your love and receive the blessing you have for me.  Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. Amen.
