Your Life Will Tell a Story

David Lindell

Scripture

2 Samuel 22:1-3 (NIV)
David sang to the Lord the words of this song when the Lord delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul. He said: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation. He is my stronghold, my refuge, and my savior—from violent people you save me.”

For the full passage, read 2 Samuel 22:1–7, 21–40.

Main Idea

Our lives will tell a story. It’s not a question of if there will be a story, but rather what the story of your life will tell others. King David’s life told a story of God’s faithfulness and provision, and every follower of Christ has the opportunity for their life to tell the same story of God’s faithfulness. When others recognize that we are people after God’s own heart, they see that God desires to work in the same way in their lives.

1. God Protected Me

Never underestimate the power of a desperate prayer. Your lowest moment can become your loudest testimony.

Why do prayers that come from a place of desperation often seem to have the greatest impact? How can we maintain the same level of passion in our prayers through every season of life?

2. God Rewarded Me

The litmus test for walking in the reward of God’s blessing is not perfection—it’s direction.

How has your understanding of God’s grace evolved the longer you’ve been a Christian?

3. God Equipped Me

David didn’t just say, ‘God fought my battles.’ He said, ‘God trained me, strengthened me, and equipped me.

What are ways you have seen God Protect you, Reward you, and Equip you?

Call To Action

Reflect:

When you look at your life, do you see God’s presence in every area of it?

Respond:

Choose to seek God and look to Him by dedicating the first part of your day to Him.

Remember:

When a person has a heart after God, He will protect them, reward them, and equip them.
