The Amazing Blessing of Generous Giving

John Lindell

Scripture

Malachi 3:10
Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the LORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it.”

2 Corinthians 9:6
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Main Idea

Tithing is God’s blueprint for honoring Him with our finances, returning the first 10% as an act of worship and trust. Scripture promises that when we tithe, God opens the floodgates of blessing and protects what we have, following the “law of the harvest”—we reap what we sow, after we sow, and more than we sow. Ultimately, tithing is just the starting point of a lifestyle of generosity that invites God’s abundant provision.

1. The Blueprint for Giving

God says, ‘If you will give Me the tithe, I will throw open the floodgates of blessing & you won’t be able to contain it.

What are some common obstacles that prevent people from tithing? What are some ways a person can overcome those challenges and trust God with their finances?

2. The Blessing of Giving

One of the undeniable truths of scripture is that when we give, it opens God’s door of blessing in our life.

Tell about a time when God blessed you financially as you stepped out and gave in faith. What are some ways you are continuing to grow in the grace of giving?

Call To Action

Reflect:

When you look at your life, is tithing a foundational part of your generosity?

Respond:

During your prayer time this week, ask God to show you how He wants you to grow in generosity!

Remember:

Tithing isn’t the final steps in giving, it’s the first step to living a life of generosity.
