Praise Paves the Way
James 5:13-18
1st Prayer and problems
James 5:13a
Is anyone among you suffering?
James 5:13b
Let him pray.
James 5:13c
Is anyone cheerful?
James 5:13d
Let him sing praise.
2nd Prayer and personal healing
James 5:14a
Is anyone among you sick?
1st The sick person is to call for the elders
James 5:14b
Let him call for the elders of the church,
2nd The elders are to pray over the sick person
James 5:14c
and let them pray over him,
3rd The elders are to anoint the sick person
James 5:14d
anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
James 5:15
And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
3rd Prayer and penance
James 5:15b
And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.
James 5:14
Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, "See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse may happen to you."

For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself. That is why many of you are weak and ill, and some have died.

The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.

Elijah was a man with a nature like ours,

and he prayed fervently that it might not rain

and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.
